Polish command and Krakus

Finished basing the first of the Krakus at the weekend.
I dont think I did Paul's work jsutice although happy with the horses - the flash on the camera produced some off results.
Detail of 3 at the charge
The horse tail banner was used to signal orders so I've modelled them here with the officer telling the standard bearer what to do.
The 12 lancers showing the variety that is possible.
 Side view
Close up - showns the horse nicely.
 The officer and standard bearer
Close up of the officer and SB
Off subject but a little fox I painted for a friend.
Polish comand: this is the command pack (general and ADC) with a mounted officer added to be another senior officer
Side view: please note the ADC's horses front hooves are best slightly repositioned so as to be appearing to pull up.
The line officer as a general. Quite haughty isnt he?
 The ADC
 Rear view
Hope you like the pictures. Not my best work by any means. These are available for sale now and the Uhlans will be ready soon.

First game of General de Brigade

My good friend Daryl and I had our first ever game of General de Brigade Saturday and it was good fun (even if it meant I missed the heroic Welsh team defeating the out of sorts French side in Paris).
First picture is of two "brigades" of Prussians who at the end of the had seized one village and were about to attack the bridge (which I was aiming for).
 French brigade and supporting artillery.
 French cavalry brigade
The Poles who were defending the bridge
Prussian cavalry brigade with the heroic Landwehr who fought the French cuirassiers to a stand still ( I threw a double 6.................)
 The Prussians about to assault
Carabiners about to overrun the horse artillery
 Skirmish screen out front
Daryl's Perry French. I think he's done a great job.
 The entire brigade
Cavarly melee which was still ongoing when we called it a day.

I liked the rules and didnt find them that slow or too complicated.  Using historical tactics seems to produce the right results and we look forward to giving them another go.

Krakus & divisional command

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr f*cking google and their plans for world domination. I bit the bullet and added the pictures to Picassa.

Please see the Krakus ( you need 3,000+ of these for 1813-14!!!) and Polish divisional command.

 Officer and standard bearer
 Krakus 1
 ADC & General de Division
There have been some comments about the size of the horses due to one quote from Napoleon about them being "pygmies" before Bautzen. Well, all I can say is that the plates I've seen show Krakus uniformed and on light cavalry horses.  Due to their success as battle cavalry I would assume there were differnces between "peasant"" troops who brough their own ponies and those who were mounted in line horses.
I've gone with the line horses and I am happy with the result.
 General and ADC

Hope you like them; they are available from me now. Uhlan's should be ready before too long.

Comparison shots

From L-R: Foundry Perry, MM Poles, Perry.
Never realised how well fed the Foundry are but all in all a good fit.
From L-R: Foundry Perry, MM Poles, Foundry Perry.
Foundry on the left a little short but other wise tres bon
From a distance pretty much a perfect fit
 L-R: Calpe, MM Poles, Victrix
A far better fit with Calpe than I thought and worse than with Victrix.
From a distance though rather good fit.

Hope this is of use to people.

The first unit of campaign Poles are now finished and based
 3 different skirmishers

 3 new Voltiguers
 3 new grenadiers
 6 new fusiliers
 6 new command
Deliberately sculpted to be on campaign
Designed for 1812-14 but can be used for earlier especially the Peninsular
Very scruffy one here in clogs and forage cap
 Side view of the unit
 Detailing on the second officer
 The rear

 In all its glory
Close up on the colonel and eagle bearer
I deliberately painted these in off white trousers and gave the grenadiers white epaulettes etc as I have seen some evidence that this regiment did dress this way.
The flag is wrong for 1812 but blame GMB for that!

Figures are available from me ( roger.murrow@mmc2100.co.uk )
